Hi again all,
after listening to a review of avg free antivirus on acb radio's main menu, I installed it and now have it on my computer. I hate antivirus programs that you have to pay for updates every year, after paying for the program. Anyway, when dave williams was going through the options, he said you could disable registry scan, and the boot sector scan. By default, it's set to scan efverything when you do a computer scan, and heuristic scanning is enabled also. On the one hand, I'd assume if the computer started fine, that would mean there's nothing wrong with the registry, or the boot sector, and if there were, the computer couldn't start, so avg couldn't do anything, but on the other hand, something might happen to the registry or the boot sector befor you turn the computer off, so if you had turned those 2 options off, avg wouldn't know to check those areas. In the whole 8 years I ran my old computer, I've never had anything going in the registry, so I'm uncertain as to what to do. I haven't done any kind of scan yet, but I do the update thing when the update shield manager shows up in the system tray. Should I leave those 2 options enabled and let it scan the registry and the boot sector when I do a scan?

Yes you keep thoughs things turned on, it is very emportant that it scans your registery, and the boot secters.
